Focus Buddy: ADHD Timer · Last updated September 30, 2026

Focus Buddy respects your privacy. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. If anything is unclear, email us at marketing@koza-lab.co and we'll answer within 24 hours.

What We Collect

You don't need to create an account with your name, email, or phone number. The app signs you in with an anonymous identifier, and collects:

Your task titles and notes, your mood notes, and your streak and mood history are stored on your iPhone. When you tell Pip how you feel, by typing or speaking, the app matches your words to a mood on your device; we record only the mood it picked (for example "anxious"), not what you said. Your words can still appear in session recordings, as explained below.

We don't collect your location, contacts, camera, photos, or Health data, and we don't use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).

How We Use It

What We Don't Do

Who We Share With

We share data only with services that help us run the app:

We may also share data when required by law or to protect users from harm. See the Google Privacy Policy, the PostHog Privacy Policy, and the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

Session Recordings

To see where people get stuck, the App Store version of Focus Buddy uses PostHog session replay. It captures screenshots of the app's screens as you use them, together with your taps, and sends them to PostHog's EU servers linked to your anonymous identifier. It doesn't record your camera, your microphone, or anything outside Focus Buddy.

These recordings are not masked. Anything shown on screen can appear in them, including text you type in the app, such as what you tell Pip is on your mind, your mood notes, and your task titles and notes. We use recordings only to improve the app, we don't share them with anyone else, and PostHog deletes them automatically after a limited period. If you'd rather not be recorded, avoid typing personal details in the app, or email us and we'll delete recordings linked to your identifier.

Voice and Microphone

Focus Buddy only uses the microphone when you tap it to tell Pip how you feel. Your speech is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition, which may process the audio on your device or on Apple's servers under Apple's Privacy Policy. We don't receive or store your voice recordings. You can type instead, and you can turn off microphone and speech recognition access anytime in iOS Settings → Focus Buddy.

The coaching voice you hear is pre-recorded audio bundled with the app, or your iPhone's built-in voice. No personal data is used to produce it.

Not a Medical Service

Focus Buddy is a self-help tool for building routines. It isn't a medical device and doesn't diagnose, treat, or monitor ADHD or any other condition, and it isn't a substitute for professional care. If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number right away. In the US you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline); elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists free, confidential lines in your country.

Your Rights

You can:

Because you don't sign up with an email, please include the Apple ID email you used to subscribe (if any) or describe when you used the app, so we can find your data. If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA, including the right to object to processing, request portability, and lodge complaints with your local data protection authority. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

Data Retention

We keep your onboarding answers and routine history until you ask us to delete them. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days. Session recordings are deleted automatically after PostHog's retention period. Subscription records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat under their own policies, and we may keep transaction records longer where the law requires it. Data stored only on your iPhone is removed when you delete the app.

Children

Focus Buddy is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you're a parent and believe your child has used the app, contact us and we'll delete their data.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, encrypted storage at rest) and access controls to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep yours safe.

International Transfers

Our service providers are based in various countries including the US and EU. When data is transferred internationally, we rely on standard legal safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app before they take effect.
